Replacing the block

Went for a drive 4 hours out of Sydney to pick up a motor

Valves & Seats

The valves and seats had seen better days so out came the Scotch-Brite, E85 and some brass wire to give everything a thorough clean.

Valve cleaning process:

Soak

Out with the old

Haven't had much time to do anything as working 7 days is killing me but managed to squeeze in some time yesterday to pull the motor out.

Remember to service your car regularly

Not much to report as I've been busy working 7 days. Only time I get some day light is usually on sunday afternoons!

Ended up separating the head from the block and pulled it apart to see the condition of it as I will be rebuilding it anyway.

Wasn't very pleased with what I found:

I like small Japanese cars. My old man likes muscle cars and big motors. He told me that it would be nothing but a pipe dream to get a 4cyl Civic to go fast (a benchmark of 12s 1/4 mile) without spending big dollars. This build was created to prove him wrong.
